Modiss history goes back to 1994, the year when Alfonso Fontal entered lights. An essential event to understand Modiss' idiosyncrasy today is the Hanover International Exhibition of 1996. There the Mediterranean style came face to face with Central European design, and the colder north won the first round. This instructive experience challenged Modiss' unique design philosophy, one that is both elegant and synthetic and capable of combining the best of two at first sight contradictory ways of approaching applied art. It could be seen in 2001, 2002 and 2003 catalogues which show the evolution towards to essence of Modiss design. The enormous success of Modiss lights at domestic and international Fairs and Shows has enabled the company to grow.
